The CAN BUS SIMULATOR Tool allows FRC teams to experiment and test proposed CAN Bus layouts.Using the included oscilloscope and other test tools like a Digital Multimeter (DMM), or the CAN Opener v2, teams can qualify their bus design and test it before committing the layout to the robot. Students will see the effects on signal integrity when exposed to typical bus issues like: over-termination, under-termination, CAN_H and CAN_L inversions, inter-node minimum distances, stubs, and much more. When used with the "CAN Bus for FRC" presentation slides, students will learn all about the history, technical details, troubleshooting, and applications for this two-wire communications standard. The simulator was designed and constructed in the Extraordinary Lab at CVM Labs.
